Nines SOC 2 Certification: Managing household data with the highest commitment to security
Nines is officially SOC 2 Type II certified — a milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting our clients' sensitive information with the highest standards of security and compliance.

Nines gives clients a way to safeguard sensitive information about their homes and their everyday lives. With our centralized household management platform, families and the private service professionals who support them have the peace of mind that their data is accessible, reliable, preserved and protected.
That peace of mind starts with a deep commitment to security — across our company and in every layer of our platform.
Today, Nines is officially SOC 2 Type II certified. This is an independent, third-party validation that our internal controls and systems are designed with high standards of security, availability, confidentiality, and privacy.
With SOC 2 certification, you can be confident that:
- Our internal controls and processes have been audited and meet stringent compliance standards
- Your data is handled in accordance with independently verified policies and procedures
- We’ve further elevated our maturity in risk management, monitoring, and data protection
What is SOC 2 certification?
SOC 2 certification (System and Organization Controls 2) is a framework developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) that sets standards for managing and protecting customer data.
A third-party auditor performs a detailed review of a company’s controls, policies, and procedures over a set period of time (Type II) to evaluate whether a company is securely managing data to protect the privacy and interests of its clients.
To be certified, a company must meet requirements based on five Trust Services Criteria:
- Security – Systems are protected against unauthorized access
- Availability – Systems are available for operation and use as agreed
- Processing Integrity – System processing is complete, valid, accurate, and authorized
- Confidentiality – Information designated as confidential is protected
- Privacy – Personal information is collected, used, retained, disclosed, and disposed of appropriately
Nines security highlights
Security drives every aspect of Nines, from our underlying infrastructure to the ways users interact with your account.
Our platform is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with the highest available security standards AWS has to offer. We conduct third-party penetration tests to pressure-test our systems on a regular basis.
Your data, including backups, is encrypted at rest and over the wire. For households who want even more control over their data, we offer a Docker-based on-premise solution that allows you to host data on your own servers.
Your household manual — and all of the details around your properties, the people who live and work there, and all of the projects happening there — is yours to control, no matter who comes and goes. With custom permissions settings, you decide who can log into your account, and what each user can see. It’s easy to add protections like two-factor authentication, and to revoke a user’s access quickly.
